Popular Edo billionaire and father-in-law of the Olu of Warri designate, Capt. Hosa Wells Okunba, is dead. He died in the wee hours of Saturday August 7, 2021.
Okunbo, a professional commercial pilot who was said to have amassed stupendous wealth while he served in the now defunct Okada airline owned by flamboyant Benin chief and businessman, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, was reported to have died in an undisclosed hospital in London after a protracted battle with cancer.
Sources in Benin who confirmed the development said the entire city has been thrown into mourning since the unfortunate news filtered in.
Born on 7 January 1958, Capt Okunbo, the renowned philanthropist who was a known political financier of former President Goodluck Jonathan, had chains of businesses spanning banking, real estate, telecommunication, agro-allied, petroleum, marine, electricity and many more.
