Breaking news: One shot dead in Isoko South I by-election

There is palpable tension in Irri community following the murder of a young in Ward 10 Unit 5, during the collation of results. The deceased whose identity could not be fully ascertained was said to have been murdered by unknown gunmen who invaded the polling station shooting sporadically into the air.

An eyewitness who spoke to this reporter, said the suspected political thugs drove a Toyota Sienna mini bus to the centre and went straight for the materials in the splace which where they were been sorted. He said they earlier attempted to shoot inside the hall but were unable, adding that one of them stepped out and shot straight at the young man at point blank range.

“We were here when all of a sudden a Toyota Sienna conveying these people stopped and about three men armed to the teeth alighted. They earlier tried to shoot in the hall but were unable. They now stepped out and one of them shot this man who was standing very close to me. It was at that point that we all bolted away. They took the materials away and left their victim in the pool of his own blood. What we later learnt was that he died on arrival at the hospital”, he said
