Ubong Sampson – Uyo

Nyeneime Andy, head pastor of Holy Ghost Ambassadors Ministry International, Uyo, has switched to support the succession plan of governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state after the government moved to demolish his church building.

Andy took to his Facebook timeline to launch his reversed stance on the recent activities of the Udom Emmanuel led government towards the politics of succession as the governor prepares to exit the scene by 2023.

Through a post on his timeline, he was seen soliciting support for the governor’s succession plan.

“I call on the entire youth structures and the Sons of Faith to Support the Completion Agenda of Deacon Udom Emmanuel. This is our state and we don’t have another,” the cleric said.
He called on the people to pray for the governor and his administration “for (the) wisdom to lead the state to an enviable position”, the post partly read.

Prior to the threat on his church building by government through the Uyo Capital City Development Authority, the pastor’s timeline had regular comments by him which clearly showed his positions were against the approach of government towards the succession plan.

“In 2023, it will be a government of the people, for the people and by the people. We will not allow one person to choose a governor for a state of over 6 million people,” the pastor had said in a recent press briefing.

Government in the letter of notice, had given the church a seven day ultimatum “to remove the said illegal structure and reinstate the land to its original state” on the grounds that the building did not meet the planning standards for approval.
The building was started in 2012 and has been serving as a worship centre for the church since then.

Andy did not respond to calls and messages sent to his line as at press time. A premium times reporter also claimed the pastor had declined a request for interview when contacted on the development.
