Leaders of Ozoro kingdom have denied being associated with a recent media publication by Isoko Monitoring Group (IMG), bearing “false” allegations against Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.”
The said publication had the headline “Okowa Killing Tertiary Institutions in Favour Of Owa-Alero”.
In a statement co-signed by the President General and Public Relations Officer of the kingdom, Hon. High Chief Miller Akpoili and Prince Kennedy Elerara respectively, the leadership of the kingdom stressed that Ozoro as the host community to Delta State University of Science and Technology, are not part of such claims by IMG.
According to the statement; “We, the leadership of Ozoro Kingdom, disassociate ourselves from IMG claims of Governor Okowa killing tertiary institutions in favour of Owa-Alero.
“IMG in the said publication, had claimed that Delta State University of Science and Technology situated at Ozoro is being neglected by the state governor. This, we put as false.
“Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, is just few months old and government is doing everything within its reach financially to ensure that the university functions effectively.
“We as host community to the institution are happy with the state government and we are very sure that in no distant time, the university will function effectively, especially when academic activities kick off.
“We however solicit for the cooperation of all groups within and outside Isoko to support the state government in ensuring that the university functions effectively. ”
