The University of Benin Alumni Association (UBAA) has elected renowned lawyer, Barr. Vote Umukoro as its National Legal Adviser, during the 2024 Biennial General Assembly held at the Senate Chambers, Ugbowo Campus, yesterday.
Umukoro, an ally of maverick lawyer and former Attorney General of the federation and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa SAN, is also the current Secretary to the Isoko North Local Government Council. He emerged as the group’s scribe in a keenly contested election which also saw Barr. Emmanuel Orhiazuwa of the Lagos branch, elected as the new Worldwide President of the association.
The assembly brought together alumni from various branches, celebrating their shared heritage and renewing their commitment to advancing the ideals of their alma mater.
- Speaking after his election, Umukoro pledged to leverage his position to further the association’s legal framework and ensure the effective administration of justice within the body. Known for his legal expertise and leadership qualities, it is beleived that Umukoro will not mince words in upholding the highest standards of the legal profession, as his election has been hailed as a significant step toward strengthening the association’s leadership and influence.
