The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media and Strategy, Comrade Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel, has reiterated the commitment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration to the development of Delta State and the empowerment of its youth. He made these remarks during the maiden edition of the Isoko Nation Unity Table Tennis Tournament, held in the Isoko Unity House, Oleh, Delta State.
In his opening address at the event, Dr. Palmer emphasized that his inspiration to unite Isoko youths through sports stems from Governor Oborevwori’s consistent advocacy for unity among the people.
“Let me unequivocally state that part of my inspiration to unite Isoko youths through sports comes from my father, governor, boss, and leader, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori JP FICMC. The Governor has consistently emphasized the need for unity among our people, a message that resonates deeply with me,” he said.
Palmer highlighted some of the Governor’s key achievements over the past 18 months, noting the administration’s immense contributions to the Isoko Nation. He lauded the appointment of Isoko sons and daughters to strategic government positions, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor and other vital roles.
He also listed notable infrastructural projects in the Isoko region, such as the first phase of the Emevor-Orogun Road, commissioned in June, with the second phase ongoing. He spoke of the School of Health Sciences in Ovrode, which aims to address manpower gaps in the health sector, and ongoing works on the Uzere-Asaba Ase Bridge and Igbide-Olomoro Road.
Accross the state, Palmer disclosed that the administration has initiated over 513 road projects spanning 1,300 km and 950 km of drainage, with a record of over ₦150 billion adding that the Governor’s has achieved these feats, prudently mamaginf the state’s resources without borrowing a dime
He further praised the Governor’s vision for the 2025 Appropriation Law, which allocates ₦936 billion, with 62.79% dedicated to capital expenditure, targeting sectors such as roads, education, health, water resources, and agriculture.
“The Governor’s prudent management and impactful policies inspire confidence. Indeed, this administration deserves our unwavering support to achieve even greater strides for Delta State and its people,” Palmer, a renowned journalist and speechwriter, stated.
The Isoko Nation Unity Table Tennis Tournament which began on November 1st this year, climaxed today with the overall winner going home with a cash prize of one million while the second position got a whooping half a million with the third place receiving the sum of three hundred thousand naira.
