Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday, decorated seven police officers, including his Chief Security Officer (CSO), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Omoarebun Iluobe, and his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Superintendent of Police (SP) Oreoluwa Ogunwumiju, with their newly earned ranks at Government House, Asaba.
The other decorated officers were SP Kenneth Iyetor, Provost; Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bako Ibrahim, Unit Commander, Government House, Asaba; DSP Umoh Ubong, Escort Commander; DSP Anthony Okonji, OC Communication, Government House; and DSP Kalu Ibeh, Unit Commander, 51 Police Mobile Force (PMF).
Governor Oborevwori was joined in the ceremony by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, and Mrs. Victoria Omoarebun, wife of the CSO.
In his remarks, CP Abaniwonda expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Sunday Egbetokun, for approving the promotions. He emphasized that hard work in any organization is rewarded with elevation, noting that the officers had demonstrated exceptional commitment to their duties, which earned them their new ranks.
Highlighting the state’s low crime rate during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, CP Abaniwonda attributed the success to the robust collaboration between the police, communities, critical stakeholders, and other security agencies. He assured that the police would maintain these partnerships to address any lingering security challenges.
“We ensured a peaceful festive season through strategic measures, and we are committed to sustaining these collaborations to address security issues effectively,” he said.
The Commissioner congratulated the promoted officers and urged them to rededicate themselves to serving the nation, with the hope of earning further promotions in the future. He also commended Governor Oborevwori for his unwavering support of security agencies, assuring the Governor that the police would continue working diligently to uphold security as a cornerstone of his MORE Agenda.
Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, CSP Omoarebun Iluobe thanked God for the elevation and pledged their renewed commitment to serving the state and the nation.
“This promotion is a motivation to do more. As we step into the new year, we promise to give our best and encourage our colleagues to do the same to justify these honors,” Iluobe stated.
