Governor of Ondo State and Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has reacted to impressions built around the alleged boycotting of the south west governors’ visit to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi.

The governors had on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit on Asiwaju Tinubu at his Lagos residence after he return from medical vacation abroad.

Governor Fayemi’s absence was noticed by the media and public, and generated insinuations and reactions on the social media.

This caused a reaction form Akeredolu through his chief press secretary, Richard Olatunde, who disclosed that Fayemi was with them at the initial South-West Governors’ Forum meeting at Lagos House, Marina, but hurried off to catch a late flight to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he was a guest speaker at the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference dinner.

In the statement signed by Olatunde, “He (Fayemi) sent his apology to Asiwaju as well as his good wishes. The rest of us who visited Asiwaju’s residence tendered same and extended Fayemi’s good wishes.”
