Music industry powerhouse and Mavin Records founder Don Jazzy has appointed his cousin, Tega Oghenejobo, as the new President and Chief Operations Officer of Nigeria’s largest music label, Mavin Records. This shift in leadership takes effect immediately, marking a significant new chapter for the company.

Previously serving as Mavin’s Chief Operations Officer, Tega has been instrumental in securing key endorsement deals for Mavin artists and orchestrating the label’s most notable business successes. Among his achievements are landmark investments from Kupanda Capital and the recent majority acquisition by Universal Music Group, valued at approximately $125 million, with the potential to grow to $200 million.

In his announcement, Don Jazzy expressed his confidence in Tega’s leadership, acknowledging that while he’s known for discovering and nurturing superstar talent, his greatest achievement is recognizing Tega’s resilience and dedication to Mavin’s mission.

The leadership shift signifies that Don Jazzy may step back from daily operations, focusing instead on executive and board-level responsibilities.

Tega’s voyage with the label began during the Mo’Hits era, where he started as an intern managing promotions in Warri. He later joined Mavin Records as D’Prince’s road manager, gradually advancing to Chief Operations Officer by 2019. His years of commitment and experience have now led him to helm Mavin’s administrative future.
