A new 300KVA electricity transformer supplied by the Rural Electrification Board, Asaba, is now being installed by BEDC technicians, in place of the faulty one, under the watchful eyes of Prince Godwi,n Ejinyere, former Chairman of Okpe Local Government and Duke of Orerokpe District.

The new transformer which will service the Police Station and its environs, replaces the old one that went bad three years ago, throwing most parts of Orerokpe into perpetual darkness.

Prince GodwIn Ejinyere, an Executive Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring said with the speed at which the transformer was being installed, it would be activated on or before seven days, beginning from 18th August, 2021, to restore electricity supply to the affected areas of Orerokpe District.

To fast track the process of installation, Okakuro GodwIn Ejinyere rose up early on Wednesday 18th August, 2021, mobilized men and materials of the BEDC to the project site, and gave support where necessary, in spite of the rain. Residents were full of praise for the selfless and committed District Head for coming out to supervise the job in the interest of the suffering masses.

Meanwhile, efforts are in top gear to reactivate the faulty 500KVA electricity transformer at the Hospital junction, Orerokpe. The BEDC Manager, Mr. Ajayi had promised to mount pressure on the contractor WATDAV Engineering Ltd to expedite action on the repairs of the transformer which was said to have developed a major fault twenty-four hours after installation eight months ago.

Residents of Orerokpe District have been pouring encomiums on the District Head, Prince GodwIn Ejinyere for his dogged efforts at mobilizing people and materials, as well as monitoring the process to ensure speedy and successful completion of the rural electrification projects in Orerokpe community.

The residents said when the transformers come alive, commercial and social lives in Orerokpe will boom again, and this will help to reduce the rate of migration from Orerokpe to Effurun/ Warri metropolis. They said it would also help in reducing the soaring crime rate in the area.
