The Honourable Commissioner representing Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality in the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Agency (DESOPADEC), Hon. Chief Ikechukwu Christian Akozor is dead. He died minutes ago after a brief illness at the Asaba Specialist Hospital located in the GRA Phase 1 area of the state capital. His death is coming barely 6 months after the death of Rev. (Mrs.) Omatsola Williams, the state’s commissioner for Agriculture who was reported to have slumbed and died in Asaba late March.
Confirming the incidence, a high-profile government source who does not want to be named, said Akozor was brough to the hospital few days ago and was been treated for malaria. He said the illness could not be said to be serious and wondered what went wrong.
“Ýes, he (Akozor) is dead. I can confirm that to you authoritatively. He died not too long ago at the Specialist Hospital. I was informed yesterday that he was down with malaria and before I could say jack, a call came in this afternoon that he was no more. It is a big blow to us in Ndokwa. This is yet another painful death,” the source lamented
Born in September 11, 1957, Akozor hails from Aboh in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the State.
