A Clergy serving in Ikpide-Irri community in Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, has expressed satisfaction in the development witnessed in the community in recent times.

Ven Emmanuel Itimi, who is the priest in charge of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ikpide, has said that what he has seen presently is enough proof that the community is doing far better in terms progress, as compared to what he said the situation was in the past.

According to him, his first missionary journey to the community was between 2007 and 2008, adding that upon returning in 2020, there were lots of developmental changes for his eyes to behold.

“Electric power is far better than it was back in 2007 when I arrived here, and the nature of development within this time has been massive.

“In every community, access road is key to development. One of the major needs of the community was access road because it was very difficult to access here back then, as the only means was water. So the access road is one of the major developments this community has seen”, he said.

While appreciating the governor for considering the community in his development plan for the state, the cleric also thanked a Lagos-based philanthropist, High Chief (Amb.) Emmanuel Emoefe for his efforts in drawing the attention of government to the needs of his people, one of which, being the ongoing township roads.

Speaking on the access road that is near completion, the clergy said he is in the first instance appreciative to the government for providing roads that is motorable, adding that for them that knew what life was before the project commenced, they understand better how much relief has been brought on the community with the ongoing project. He enjoined the indigenes to be appreciative of what is at hand while hoping on their desires to be fully met, and condemned attempts by some at discrediting the efforts so far,

He further commended the quality of the road project so far, particularly pointing to the drainage system which he said, has not left any flooding issues to worry about, adding that with a promised second phase for the project, the community will have more reasons to smile.
