The Automated Teller Machine (ATM) point operated by Access Bank PLC within the premises of a popular eatery, Crunchies, located along Aka Road in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital, has been attacked and left in ruins by suspected robbers.

The facility was reportedly attacked in the early hours of Tuesday, October 5th, 2021.

The suspected robbers, after breaking into the ATM facility and removing the save, set the place ablaze.

The security post within the Crunchies facility was also touched. Augustine Akpan, a Facebook user who reported the incident on his timeline said no life was reported lost.

He also claimed that as of the time he visited the crime scene, the Manager of the eatery was not on seat, while staff found at the premises declined making comments.

Our correspondent in the state was at the crime scene to confirm the report.

It is however uncertain whether the Police patrol team always stationed around Ukana Offot by Aka Road U-turn was not on duty as at the time the incident took place.

It is also suspects that the suspected robbers may have razed down the facility to destroy traces, as ATMs are known to have monitoring cameras.
